Summit One Vanderbilt

"Summit One Vanderbilt is NYC's newest observation experience, opened in 2021 atop the One Vanderbilt tower (1,401 feet) next to Grand Central. It's an immersive art installation with mirrored rooms, glass floors, and outdoor glass ledges creating infinite reflections and vertigo-inducing perspectives of Midtown. It's Instagram-centric and experiential—part observation deck, part art museum. Very modern, very theatrical."

The Backstory

One Vanderbilt was completed in 2020 as one of NYC's tallest buildings. Summit opened in 2021 with installations by artist Kenzo Digital. It quickly became one of NYC's most popular attractions, emphasizing 'experience' over traditional observation. The building is directly connected to Grand Central Terminal.

Local Secret

"Book timed tickets online weeks ahead—it sells out. Sunset and night tickets are most expensive but most dramatic. The mirrored rooms create infinite reflections—wear something you want photographed. The outdoor glass ledge ('Ascent') requires separate ticket and courage. Go midweek to avoid weekend crowds. Dress well—it's trendy and photo-focused."
